My very first week of college is done and over with, and you
know what? I feel great! Okay, I’ll admit to feeling a little tired, what with
summer just ending and me being used to sleeping in until noon every day, but other than that, I am loving the whole
college experience. I only have two or three classes a day, and I have Fridays,
Saturdays, and Sundays off. The campus is huge and beautiful, with old
buildings and a bell tower that tolls every hour. Then there are the teachers.
They seem much more, for lack of a better term, laid back, and more likely to
speak to us as adults then as oversized toddlers, like some of my high school
teachers did. My English Comp. professor, for example, is pretty sarcastic, and
he cusses a lot. I can not even explain to you how refreshing it is to be in a
classroom setting and hear a teacher cussing up a storm instead of berating a
student who let a single bad word slip out. Kind of reminds me of my
grandfather, actually. One thing that I’m not sure about, though, is that one
of my “professors” is only twenty-three years old. Twenty-three years old, can
you believe it? He actually kind of reminds me of Dr. Sweets from the TV series
Bones—great show by the way. I mean, is it a good thing or a bad thing
that the guy who is supposed to be teaching me about the world is only five
years older than me?
So anyway, my first week of college and I decided to go to
the midnight premiere of The City
of Bones on Tuesday. Can I just say, that movie was absolutely amazing. It followed
the book much better than other movies have done, and only a few little details
were changed or left out. The actor they chose to play Jace was not my
favorite, when I first saw him, but as the movie went on, he grew on me. And oh,
my dear god, did he have a nice body. It hasn’t even been a week and I already
want to go see it again. Seeing it in theaters has made me want to read the
entire series over again. It sucks though that I have to wait for the last book
to come out.
Speaking of books, I need something new to read. I am
waiting on several series to come out with their newest books, and as many people
would agree, waiting sucks! I have a whole list of books I’m waiting on. I
mean, can’t the authors write any faster? I know, I know, it takes time to
write exceptional books, but what can I say? I’m not a very patient person.
